Making out in a mine isn't a good idea...George Mihalka's "My bloody valentine", (1981).
***
"My bloody valentine", suffered from the MPAA's cuts in America meaning the deaths are toned down. The acting, writers, and direction, are great. The film didn't have a sequel, nor prequel. But in 2009, there was an abysmal re-make in 3-D, that failed at the box office. The original 1981 horror movie is superior to "Halloween II", Rick Rosenthal, and "Friday the 13th Part II", Steve Miner, the same year in Hollywood. In short, the last act of "My Bloody Valentine", is suspenseful...and should be watched again.

The horror in "My Bloody Valentine", (1981), is superior to some of the Hollywood movies of the early 1980's. Written by Stephen Miller and John Beaird, Canadian slashers were strong in that decade a generation ago.
